Short-term Mission Teams - "Project Missionary"
Sharing the Good News of Jesus
Introduction - Missionary Project for the Holidays (Projeto Missionario dos Ferias)
Every year, volunteers from all across Brazil form special “Projeto Missionario” mission teams for targeted evangelism in the dry Brazilian Sertão. These teams form twice per year, in January and July. This is because these months align with the Brazilian holiday seasons. Each project is about three weeks in duration. This supports the objective to to go deep into the Sertão and preach the gospel in towns with less than five percent (5%) Christians. Clearly, this tiny Christian presence is insufficient to be culturally significant in these towns. At about ten percent, churches are generally able to successfully reach other people. However, many towns in the Sertão have less than two percent Christians.
Mission Project #72
Taking a group of 120 dedicated Christians into the challenging Sertão twice per year is a big undertaking. This January 2020, a team will descend on Porto da Folha in the Brazilian state of Sergipe. Please pray for volunteers filled with the Spirit and for open hearts and minds in Porto da Folha. Please pray for a great outpouring of faith and the establishment of a strong church there.
These mission teams consists of about 100 people. A handful people are experienced veterans working at JUVEP or participating in JUVEP training or seminaries. This is part of their training. But, most are Brazilians that come from all over the country to serve the Lord as missionaries. Many fly in from Sao Paulo, Brazil’s biggest city. Other take the bus from cities and towns. Some live locally. Everyone meets at the JUVEP Base in Cabadelo, Brazil. This is near Joao Pessoa. This is easy to find on the map as it is the Easternmost city in the continental Western Hemisphere.
The JUVEP leadership has been preparing for six months. A town in the Sertão has been preselected. For this town, a major church denomination has agreed to partner with JUVEP and plant a church. So, people who come to Jesus have a place for fellowship and growth. The JUVEP Base Camp is readied for about 100 temporary residents during the short training period. Logistics are complex and plans are prepared to care for up to 130 missionaries in a rugged Sertão. And in preparation, busses, trucks and cars are arranged.

On the Road - Salt of the Earth Ministry (JUVEP Field Mission #71, Granito, PE)
A rough translation to English.
How many gates I pass in my life
And how many times I hold tight in a truck.
How many roads I walk and “What do I say?”
Announcing that Jesus is the redeemer.
In how many doors do I knock, and share
In how many street worship programs to our God?
What are the cities, what are the fields and what are the villages.
That I still go and speak of Christ the Savior.
One thing I know, I know, I am never alone. (2X)
Always at my side will be my Counselor
That freed me from death,
Before the danger of the hunter’s bow.
