Goldemberg June 2020

Goldemberg and Jaqueline - June 2020

Grace and Peace Christian family,

We hope that you are enjoying full peace and fellowship with the Lord. We know that the world is going through difficult days and we are sure that the Lord is especially concerned with his Church. Even in the midst of so much turmoil, we can feel the protection of the Lord and the way he has worked in maintaining his worship in times of social isolation

Ministerial Activities:

We know that the world routine has changed very suddenly and we are adapting to a new phase in relationships and activities in general. It is no different in the mission field. The city of Itacaré adopted strict isolation measures even before the first Covid 19 case was confirmed. But unfortunately, today the municipality has registered 94 confirmed cases. As a result, we had to postpone the beginning of the first Bible studies to be carried out in March. The day before the scheduled date, the community leader contacted us and asked us to stop visiting.

Since then, our routine has changed and certainly that of the communities too. Although physically far away, we continue to pray that the Lord will prepare hearts to receive the seed of the Gospel of Christ when all this is over. In addition to spiritual need, the crisis also brought economic hardship. Quilombola families had their jobs affected by the interruption of the reception of tourists in the city. But the Lord did not stop the pouring out of his mercy. The Juvep Community Development Department entered into a partnership with the Transforma Brasil association, which made a donation of fifty basic food baskets to families in situations of vulnerability.

Thus, we had the difficult task of selecting fifty out of the three hundred quilombola families in the region and we distributed the baskets. We were very happy, because in addition to contributing to partially meeting the need for food, we had the opportunity to strengthen contact with people from other communities where we have not yet had the opportunity to enter. I believe that it was an important step to increase our visibility and presence with the desire that we strengthen our relationship with them.

Gratitude for our family:

Last June 16 we completed two years of marriage. Our hearts overflow with love for each other and happiness in seeing everything the Lord has done in our family and ministry. We have no doubt that God has supplied us with everything we need and has blessed our journey in the midst of so many changes.

In the last newsletter, we shared the blessing of raising our family. A few weeks later we found out that we are expecting a girl. Our daughter will be called Laura and we praise God that the pregnancy has been smooth and we have passed the sixth month. We are preparing for her arrival full of expectations and contemplating the good hand of the Lord to supply the needs. Every month we need to travel to the city of Itabuna for prenatal consultations. This has been a challenge, as the city has more than sixteen hundred confirmed cases of Covid 19, but unfortunately it is a necessary trip. In order to adapt to the new routine and reduce housing expenses, we will move to the next few months. We found a quieter place and rented a little cheaper.

Goldemberg

We end by thanking God for each one of you who has been walking with us. We have prayed to the Lord for our partners every day in our home service. Without a doubt, you are part of this ministry.

Prayer requests:

  • For the world situation and for the Lord to continue helping his Church to move forward;
  • For our rulers;
  • For the protection of our family and also the quilombola families;
  • the economic situation of our country and the quilombola families;
  • For more partners who can donate food to quilombola families in vulnerable situations;
  • For pregnancy and protection on monthly trips to Itabuna;
  • For our finances. Not only for fixed expenses, but also for extra expenses with moving and travel;
  • For wisdom and ever deeper communion with the Lord.

In Christ,
Goldemberg, Jaqueline and Laura.
